Prospective teachers in the state of New Mexico must take the NMTA Visual Arts Exam in order to gain licensure for teaching K-12 art classes in public schools. As of January of 2015, the NMTA Visual Arts Exam has been replaced by the NES Art Exam. The National Evaluation Series Art test lasts about 3 hours and contains 150 multiple-choice questions.
