The ABCTE exists to help potential educators get certified to teach without earning a Master’s degree. To complete the ABCTE General Science certification, candidates must pass the ABCTE General Science exam which focuses on the subject of general science and must pass the PTK exam which focuses on teaching. It is recommended that candidates complete the PTK exam first, which is a computer-based exam consisting of 100 multiple-choice questions and a writing section. Then it recommended that they complete the ABCTE General Science exam, which is also computerized.
