What are Perpendicular Lines?

In geometry, you’ll learn a lot about different types of lines.

One type of line that you’ll learn about are perpendicular lines.

You’ll find perpendicular lines pretty much everywhere. You can find them anywhere in our daily lives.

What are Perpendicular Lines?

A perpendicular line is a line that meets or crosses another line and forms a right angle.

The word “perpendicular” means “at right angles” and this is because when two lines meet, they form right angles.

Perpendicular lines can face in any direction such as up and down, crossways, and side-to-side. They also do not have to be standing straight up from the bottom or side of the page. None of this matters as long as they are 90 degrees to each other.
